Abstract

The objective of the current study is to understand Americans’ attitudes towards Koreans in the communities to which Koreans and Korean Americans have moved in increasing numbers over the last 15 years. Three hundred fiftynine non-Koreans residing in the Southeastern region of the United States participated in the study. We conducted a cross-sectional survey study by using a modified version of the Attitudes toward Asians (ATA) Scale originally developed by Ho and Jackson. The results of this study validate the results of some previous studies investigating attitudes of Americans towards Asian Americans. However, the results also provide information that might be unique to Koreans/Korean Americans. Counseling, educational, and research implications as well as limitations were discussed.
