The Career Indecision Profile: Measurement Equivalence in a Korean American Sample
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to test the measurement invariance of the Career Indecision Profile (CIP-65) in a Korean American sample as compared to previously collected samples from a predominantly White US population and from South Korea. Considering the unique characteristics and cultural context of Korean American immigrants, who share both American and Korean cultures, the current study sought to explore whether the four- or the five-factor model of career indecision would be replicable with a Korean American population. Results indicated that both the four- and five-factor structures yielded adequate fit in the Korean American sample (e.g. demonstrated the presence of configural invariance). However, the four-factor structure also showed full metric invariance, while the five-factor structure did not. Research and clinical implications of these findings are discussed.
